I have been enrolling to enter this course last month and it's officially starting this month on 23rd february (Monday)..this time only 3 days intensive in fact only 2 days and the last day we just have a half day to practice because both the professors need to rush back Korea.
Well, this is considered my first time to actually join a course that is based on violin and really learnt alot of things - technically and musically. It was a very fantastic training thought i "suffered" as well...muscles and fingers pain...=p
I have been blindly teach violin for over 1 and a half years and Thanks God that giving me such a wonderful training that i can actually learnt how to teach properly because all the while, I just teach whatever i know and really frustrated with the same mistakes that they make over n over and make me really headache to really discovered what's the real problems...However, through this training i get to understand the problems and at least i have the ideas of teaching and making fun during lesson time especially for younger student.
About the training: there are actually 2 well-known professors from Korea that came to give us this intensive training. We are actually divided into 2 groups as 1 group is for the newbies and the another group is for the experienced teachers. We have about 7 students on the 1st day and another 1 join in on the 2nd day. And i dont know this is considered my fortunate or unfortunate to be putting into the group of experienced teachers and this group only have 3 people. For the first day training still went finely because the pieces that are taught I am quite familiar with it. I like the way how the professor leads us and telling us many ways of teaching and suggesting lots of practice method.
On the 2nd day, another 1 member of our group went to another group so our group only left 2 "students" (me and another violinist) and that was the day i "suffered"...hahaha...because the pieces getting harder and i cant even memorize the pieces well and the professor start to ask us to play in faster tempo which i dint manage to follow the tempo, lots of times i actually gave up and just watched the professor n another violinist play. Btw, that violinist got very high qualification on violin and he is really a fantastic violinist, i really admired the way he plays and he can easily play in any keys as well plus in faster tempo somemore~~cool. That's why, i feel hard to catch up on this 2nd day but it waken me up that i have to practice alot and to be able to catch up in any keys for those pieces as well as this is only the book 1, i really need to work very hard because later on proceed to book 2 and etc, even harder already. Because next training will be 4 days intensive total of 32 credit hours. So, i really need to be fully prepared for the next training.
On the 3rd day, because the professors has gone back Korea so during this day we are just having a half day (about 4 hrs) of practicing lead by the senior violinist.
This training, to be said is 6 months but if not mistaken it actually carried on until November this year. And besides the practical side, we need to do lots of reading and lesson on the philosophy of suzuki n others as well + History of Music as well. Really alot to catch up but it's good that i can actually fully used my time well.
